Clinical presentation
Young adult struck on the side of the head. Brief loss of consciousness, then a lucid interval, followed by rapid neurological deterioration.
Key imaging findings
- Biconvex (lentiform) hyperdense extra-axial collection
- Does not cross cranial sutures
- Associated temporal bone fracture and mass effect with midline shift
- May cross the falx/tentorium (unlike subdural)
